Rising STARs

Rising STARs raises students’ awareness of the importance of natural darkness and the impacts of light pollution on ecosystems, human health, energy consumption and climate. Through an interdisciplinary approach, experts in science, environmental protection, technology and architecture provide practical knowledge. In workshops and research projects, students measure and analyse light pollution, assess lighting conditions and develop sustainable solutions. They implement these solutions in schools, families and local communities, sharing their knowledge and raising awareness. Rising STARs thus promotes environmental awareness, problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for science and research. At the same time, the project integrates a topic that has so far received little attention in school curricula.
