Digital Research for Biodiversity in Natura 2000 - DiBioN2K
DiBioN2K is a cross-border Interreg project between Austria and Italy aimed at improving the coordination of the different frameworks and approaches used for the management of Natura 2000 sites. To achieve this, existing biodiversity and management data, data formats, assessment methods and technical standards from both countries are compared and harmonised. This creates a common technical and digital basis that makes data on habitats, species and their conservation status more comparable and easier to use for ecological planning and protected area management.
Building on this foundation, DiBioN2K develops shared digital tools and strengthens cross-border exchange and cooperation in Natura 2000 management. The Lead Partner is 'Circolo Cultura e Stampa Bellunese'. Further project partners are the 'Università degli Studi di Padova – Dipartimento Territorio e Sistemi Agro-Forestali (TESAF)' and the 'E.C.O. Institute of Ecology' in Klagenfurt.
