Red List of Biotope Types in Austria - Preliminary Study
E.C.O. Institute of Ecology is responsible for the content management of work package 4 in the project “HabitAT - Red List of Austrian Biotope Types” to develop a concept for recording the relevant assessment criteria. Based on a gap analysis, E.C.O. is designing and coordinating an action plan to close data gaps and update the data situation in the long term. A spatial sampling design was developed that allows resource-efficient statements on the spatial distribution, qualitative status and threats of the different biotope types in Austria within manageable time intervals. E.C.O. thus contributes its many years of experience in biotope mapping, vegetation monitoring and data management. E.C.O. is thus making a key contribution to the strategic further development of the Red Lists as an essential basis for practical nature conservation in Austria.
