Reforestation of climate resistant forests in the Natur Park Weissensee

On behalf of the Weissensee Nature Park, E.C.O. is developing a near-natural reforestation concept for a windthrow area of around 2 hectares. E.C.O. records the current state of the vegetation, carries out regeneration surveys and designs a differentiated reforestation with tree species suitable for the location and climate, such as beech, fir, maple and oak. In addition, structure-promoting shrubs are planned. The innovative approach combines targeted reforestation with natural regeneration in fenced and unfenced areas and is complemented by forest education measures, information boards and participatory activities. E.C.O. thus provides a sound basis for climate-resilient forest development and environmental education in the nature park.
