E.C.O. is carrying out multispectral drone flights and terrestrial laser scanning at the Zöbelboden monitoring site as part of the EU FORWARDS project. The aim is to precisely record the effects of climate change on forest stands and to establish long-term monitoring structures. E.C.O. plans, collects and processes high-resolution image and 3D data to analyze vegetation structure and tree vitality. State-of-the-art technologies such as RTK-controlled drones, multispectral sensors and Riegl TLS devices are used. The data obtained is analyzed with a high degree of accuracy on a site-specific basis and combined with remote sensing data. With its methodological expertise and technical equipment, E.C.O. is making a key contribution to the development of innovative monitoring approaches for the European forest of the future.
