Year 2024

As part of a selective biotope mapping project, E.C.O. is investigating around 475 ha of meadows and streamside vegetation in the city of Linz in 2024/2025. The aim was to update the nature conservation basics and derive maintenance and management measures. A total of 134 biotopes with 321 sub-areas covering 122.7 ha were surveyed, including numerous “potential biotopes”. The dominant type is lowland meadows, but rough pastures and semi-arid grasslands were also frequently found on embankments. The surveys were carried out according to the biotope mapping standards of the province of Upper Austria. Maintenance plans are drawn up for particularly valuable areas or those with special management requirements. The results are published in a publication in the ÖKO-L magazine.
