Revitalization of Sonnegger Moor
In 2024, based on monitoring from 2023, a remediation concept for the Sonnegger Moor was implemented by E.C.O. Institute for Ecology was implemented. The aim was to make the still open moor areas mowable again as part of initial maintenance. To this end, the areas were treated with a remote-controlled bog cutter, then mowed and the cuttings removed from the area with the Mowblower. In addition, the habitat for amphibians and dragonflies was improved by creating 6 spawning ponds in the extensive reed beds in the vicinity of the Sonnegger See. Thanks to these measures, long-term maintenance of the still open moor areas is once again possible, and sunny, fish-free spawning waters are available for amphibians.
