In 2011 the Hohe Tauern National Park was extended to include the Fleißtal valleys. The project aims to record and describe the use of Alpine pastures in the extension area. To supplement the earlier surveys, maps of the Fleißtal valleys have been produced on the basis of modern landscape architecture processes; these show the usage potential for the area and the current use. The second step was to merge the data with the existing data on the remaining area of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The results of the project will thus provide the administration of the National Park with data on the use of Alpine pastures in the extension area, as well as a comprehensive basis for planning.
