In Georgia’s past and present, inappropriate land use practices led to the degradation of valuable land resources. This phenomenon poses a threat to food security, livelihoods and ecosystem services. Therefore, the overall objective of this project is to sustainably increase incomes and reduce poverty for women and men in rural Georgia. To meet those challenges, sustainable land use practices are inevitable. In the frame of this project, Georgian experts are trained in distributing knowledge and expertise on adapted land use among local farmers. On two pilot plots in the region of Kakheti, the establishment of windbreaks and their impact on soil and microclimate will be tested.
