Wanted: Professionals in Nature Conservation Management
Masters Programme 'Management of Conservation Areas' is much sought-after
‘There will be an increasing demand for the masters programme Management of Conservation Areas at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences’, says Michael Jungmeier, scientific director of the programme. ‘At the end of January, the programme once more proved its international relevance.’
The 24th January 2020 was a day to celebrate. Representatives of ten European countries came together in Paris and signed the dossier for the extension nomination of the transnational UNESCO Natural World Heritage European Beech Forests. The dossier which had been developed by E.C.O. Institute of Ecology for several years, is now to be evaluated by UNESCO.
‘The transnational UNESCO World Natural Heritage Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe reflects the high demand for highly-qualified personnel in the field of nature conservation management in the 21st century’, Jungmeier points out. In times of Fridays for Future, environmental catastrophes and the extinction of species, nature conservation and environmental protection are more present on the global agenda than ever before. Thus, the demand for specialists in the field of nature conservation is continuously rising. In this very moment, conservation experts are desperately sought-after all over the world.
‘Graduates of the masters programme Management of Conservation Areas are welcomed with open arms around the world’, Jungmeier emphasises. ‘We are very proud and happy for them, as their careers have taken them to conservation areas, ministries and international organisations.’
