Memorable day for Austrian Natura 2000 site

Recultivating the swan mussel at Lake Wörthersee

October 7 marks a special day for our pilot project ‚Recultivating the Swan Mussel‘ at the Natura 2000 site Lendspitz-Maiernigg at Lake Wörthersee in Klagenfurt, Austria.

We were honoured to welcome the mayor of the City of Klagenfurt Maria-Luise Mathiaschitz, state government official Sara Schaar, the city councillors Frank Frey and Franz Petritz and Ronald Würflinger, CEO of Blühendes Österreich who all support the conservation measures in the Natura 2000 site.

Recultivating the swan mussel is part of a larger conservation project in the area that we carry out the upcoming years.

Special thanks go to our project partner biologist Andreas Kleewein who carried out the underwater conservation measures that day and took impressive underwater shots.
