Biodiversity Day at Simon Hof

On 27 and 28 June, Simon Hof in Mittertrixen became a meeting place for biodiversity research. For the first time in Austria, a Biodiversity Day was held on an organic farm. Around 50 researchers and interested participants spent 24 hours surveying the farm’s diverse habitats. Around 660 species of animals, plants and fungi were recorded, including numerous rare and endangered species.

E.C.O., together with Ökoteam, provided technical and organisational support for the event. Our team was particularly involved in the botanical surveys and in communicating the findings to participants and visitors. The research partner was ICEB at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. The event was funded by the Privatstiftung Kärntner Sparkasse.
