In January 2020, the nomination dossier prepared by E.C.O. together with the territories for the extension or modification of the serial World Heritage Site "Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe" was submitted to UNESCO under the leadership of Switzerland and with the participation of nine other countries (Bosnia-Herzegovina, France, Italy, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Czech Republic).

After the successful technical completeness check, the dossier was handed over to the World Heritage Programme of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) for technical review. E.C.O. was commissioned by the Federal Office for the Environment in Bern to coordinate and provide technical support for the evaluation process and the missions to the 37 sites in the 10 countries.
