In 1990 for his thesis Michael Jungmeier studied the vegetation around Lake Stappitzer See in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Now in 2012 a new ecological mapping of the vegetation in this area has taken place in order to investigate and illustrate the processes of change. When collecting the basic data about the vegetation, particular attention was paid to siltation processes. The result will subsequently serve the Hohe Tauern National Park as a basis for the development of nature conservation measures and visitor control measures.
