The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve in the Ukraine aims to implement a variety of strategies and measures of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Network. The management of the Biosphere Park will be supported in its implementation of the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation (standards for modern management of protected areas). As well as strategies for involving local stakeholders and improving management effectiveness, the role of the Biosphere Reserve as a driver of sustainable development in the region will be supported. The project also aims to strengthen long-term cooperation between Germany and the Ukraine. The project is managed by the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development. E.C.O. has supported the project by planning and running workshops and meetings, providing specialist advice and carrying out a stakeholder analysis.
